A Customized, Joyous Interfaith Wedding Celebration!
Cantor Ellie's specialty is creating a meaningful Interfaith ceremony that is warm, funny, teary, touching, and special to both bride and groom. Cantor Ellie's ceremonies tell the story about the miracle in front of everyone's eyes, where two once perfect strangers pledge to be together for life.
Spiritual, Non-Demoninational Wedding Ceremonies
Some couples who have no religious affiliation still earnestly seek a ceremony that speaks to their hearts in a spiritual way. Cantor Ellie creates such a ceremony. It sings. It soars. It reaches all.
Jewish Weddings
For Jewish couples, Cantor Ellie supplies all the required elements of a traditional Jewish wedding. The Sheva Brochot (Seven Blessings) are joyfully chanted by the cantor, with English translations often read by people chosen by groom and bride. The traditional Circling Ceremony is sometimes requested, with a modern touch - the groom's reciprocal circling of the bride. And, Cantor Ellie's more contemporary Jewish weddings enable brides to choose to break a glass in tandem with their grooms, accompanied by joyful bursts of Mazel Tov! from happy families and guests.
Christian Weddings
Christian couples who have attended a wedding officiated by Cantor Ellie often come up to her afterwards, saying, 'We want that. We want what we saw tonight.' And so, they get that – with all the trimmings. The Wedding Canopy, with an exquisite hearts and lace covering, hovers over the couple, wine is shared, an artistic wedding document is signed, along with the license. The groom breaks the glass, while Cantor Ellie speaks of the fragmentation of the world around us, with prayers for its wholeness. The breaking of the glass and the subsequent kiss are punctuated with eruptions of Good luck! God bless! Felicidades!
Co-officiating, When Requested
When a bride or groom wishes clergy of their own faith to share the ceremony, Cantor Ellie will be happy to co-officiate with any clergy-person whom the bride or groom chooses, providing that the officiant is open to an ecumenical, interfaith text that is comfortable for all present. She can also recommend or supply wonderful co-officiants on request.
Providing Essentials: Chupah, Unity Candle, Wine Cup, Glass for Breaking, Microphone System, Candlesticks and Candles
Traditional Chupah, wine cup and wine, glass for breaking, Microphone system, candlesticks and candles (including the Unity Candle), and even tissues! are all supplied by Cantor Ellie unless notified otherwise, and are included in the wedding "package".
Wedding Officiant for Commitment Ceremonies and Civil Ceremonies (New Jersey)
Civil ceremonies are now legal in the State of New Jersey, and Cantor Ellie is proud to perform them, along with commitment ceremonies in PA, DE , NJ and MD and in the destination of your choice.
Officiant for Anniversary and Renewal of Vows Ceremonies, and Baby Namings
Whenever spouses want to renew their vows and reaffirm their commitment to each other, whether it be a 5th or 55th wedding anniversary, Cantor Ellie is delighted to officiate, as these are especially joyous occassions.
Pre-Wedding Ketubah-Signing Ceremony, if desired
The Ketubah is an artistic, frameable 16" x 20" marriage contract. It contains intertwined flower-rings, with a Hebrew passage and English translation often used for the Unity candle ceremony, finalized by a pledge the bride and groom make to each other. If a more formal signing ceremony is desired, families gather in a separate room to witness the Ketubah signing, with the bride having the choice of signing alone, so the groom won't see her before the ceremony.
Singing Special Ceremony Songs, by Request
Music can speak louder than words. Cantor Ellie will be delighted to sing a song that is special to the bride and groom, or a melody with lyrics that touch the heart, to personalize this special occasion.
